If you deleted chats, enter the last backup period, which means you can restore them easily. But if it's not included or you don't backup at all, take it easy, there are other alternatives in the fourth point. Stay tuned!

So, have you never made a backup or deleted chats that weren't in the file? If so, take it easy, there is a last way that can be your hope for returning to WhatsApp chat.

WhatsApp by default always makes copies of chats in the local storage of our cellphones. The file was created every day at 02.00 and was only stored for a week. So, you have seven days to return it.

For information, this method cannot be done on the iPhone. To try it, consider the following steps:
  1. Go to the File Manager on the cellphone, then go to WhatsApp > Database folder ;
  2. Select the folder "msgstore.db.crypt12", change the name to "msgstore_BACKUP.db.crypt12". This folder contains the last backup made by WhatsApp;
  3. In that folder there are many backup files with the name "msgstore- (year) - (month) - (date) .1.db.crypt12". Choose the most recent one and rename it to "msgstore.db.crypt12";
  4. Open Google Drive and delete the WhatsApp backup file stored there. That way, the app is forced to restore backups on local storage;
  5. Uninstall WhatsApp and install it again. When the prompt appears for "Restore" or "Restore" chat, the application will retrieve files from your cellphone;
  6. Click Next or Restore, and deleted chats will come back again.

5. Backup is important, don't be lazy to do it!

That's an easy way to restore accidentally deleted WhatsApp chats. From this explanation, you can learn that backups are very important, especially in times of emergency like this.

We recommend that you back up at least once a week. That way, the problems above can be handled easily and quickly, no need to go through complicated methods like in the fourth point.
